Today marks one month since we have arrived in Texas. We have been quite busy with work, school, and buying a house.
This has been an exciting week in terms of our future home--we resolved the issues that needed to be dealt with after the inspection and had the appraisal completed. At this point, everything is set to move forward and we should take possession of the house in the middle of October, just in time for my birthday! We plan to do some painting and have flooring installed, so we will more than likely wait to move in for a few weeks after that. It is a great house but will need still need quite a bit of love and attention. I have a feeling we will become well acquainted with Home Depot over the next few months.
We have still been getting out to explore the city as much as we can on the weekends. We participated in the American Heart Association "Heart Walk" downtown. It was a fun way to see the city, we were able to walk across a beautiful bridge and get some nice views of the skyline.
Over the weekend Pepsico/Frito-Lay hosted had their end of the summer celebration at Six Flags. They close down the park for employees and their families, and go to great lengths to cover up any reference to Coca-Cola that typically exists there. It was a rainy day, but David of course, insisted that we ride every roller coaster possible.

Lucy is enjoying our apartment, she much prefers to be on the first floor than the 8th, which is where we were in Chicago--it means she gets to go outside and romp around a lot more than before. We also don't have a crate for her here, so she can roam while we are gone. Most days I come home to find her still sleeping, often with her head on our pillows. She continues to need frequent reminders that she is not human.
Overall its been an extremely successful first month. We have decided not to unpack any of our belongings since we would be repacking in a month to move. So currently we are living with lots of boxes and about one week worth of clothing. Needless to say, we are very much looking forward to getting officially settled into our new place.
